How to Improve Wi-Fi Coverage at Home

Simple steps to improve Wi-Fi performance, router placement, and device connectivity in homes with fiber broadband.

Place the router in an open, central position rather than inside a cabinet or behind a television. Keep it away from large metal objects and thick walls where possible. Use the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band for nearby modern devices when you need faster speeds. Use 2.4 GHz when a device is farther away and needs better range. For larger homes, consider a mesh Wi-Fi system or a wired access point. A broadband connection can be fast, but the in-home Wi-Fi setup determines what each device actually receives.
